Aerial view of Bordeaux in medieval times. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The city lies on the west bank of the Garonne River. It is enclosed by a fortified wall, bordered by a moat and crossed by several rivers. The port is located along the river. Boats sail nearby or are moored to load or unload cargo. In the midst of the dwellings are a number of religious buildings and ruins of ancient edifices. The Saint-André cathedral and the Château du Hâ are located in the lower part of the drawing. Cultivated fields border the town. The ruined ancient amphitheatre stands to the left of the drawing. A mountain range looms in the background.
