Board of ancient ships, from the time of the Odyssey. The drawing is in landscape format. It is framed in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins. An aerial view drawing appears on the reverse. This would be the upper part of the drawing depicting Thebes on the reverse of GOL.2011.1031.
Against a seascape of fish, black-figured ceramic fragments depict ships. Various craft are depicted: a boat with two rows of oarsmen, a sailing ship, a ship with a rudder, a ship from the Odyssey period with Ulysses clinging to the mast of the boat so as not to give in to the sirens’ song, two Cypriot boats, a Phoenician boat and a Syrian boat.
