Presentation :

Aerial view of Bilbilis (Calatayud). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The town is built on a rocky spur, close to the Jalón river, visible in the lower part of the drawing. Dwellings and alleyways are laid out on terraces. A vast fortified enclosure, punctuated by towers and pierced by gates, protects the city. The forum stands at the center of the city. It consists of a double courtyard lined with colonnaded porticoes, in the middle of which stands the temple. The theater is located nearby.
