Front view of the Rebout Gate at Bibracte (Mont Beuvray). The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The wall is pierced by a large wooden door opened by two bays. Peasants, loaded with their wares or accompanied by their livestock, enter and leave the town. In the foreground, an accident has occurred. A cart has lost a wheel, overturning its load of pottery. This is an old hypothesis of restitution.
