The ziggurat or “Tower of Babel” stands on the banks of the Euphrates, visible on the left of the drawing. It stands on a vast, raised esplanade lined with palm trees. It consists of five stepped terraces of quadrangular plan, at the top of which is the temple. Access ramps and staircases allow for easy circulation.
