Presentation :

Overhead view of the Rhône arch at Arelate (Arles). The drawing is in landscape format. It is framed in ink. Traces of watercolor and graphite are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The Rhône arch stands on a square in the Trinquetaille district, in the middle of the urban fabric. This quadrifon arch is composed of a semicircular arch flanked on either side by two engaged columns with Corinthian capitals. The whole is surmounted by an attic and a bronze sculpted group depicting a figure on a quadriga. Characters and chariots circulate nearby.
