Aerial view of Antioch. The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor are visible in the margins.
The city is built on the banks of the Orontes and below Mount Silpion. The island is surrounded by a fortified wall and linked to the rest of the city by four stone bridges. The circus is depicted in the center. An arch (tetrapylon) marks the intersection of two colonnaded roads. A stadium is also visible. On the eastern bank, the city and its dwellings stand within a huge wall that stretches to the summit of Mount Silpion. A long road lined with porticoes crosses the city. A nympheum and its pool are located at one of the crossroads. The theater and amphitheater are located directly above the mountain.
