Aerial view of Alexandria (Alexandria) in the 2nd century. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The city lies between the Mediterranean Sea, visible in the lower part of the drawing, and Lake Mareotis, visible in the upper part. The entire length of the city is criss-crossed by the Canopic Way, and is laid out in an orthogonal checkerboard pattern. The large port is dominated by the lighthouse, visible in the lower part of the drawing, set between the island of Pharos on the right and the royal buildings on the left.
