Aerial view of Abu Simbel. The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a graphite frame. Traces of watercolor are visible in the margins. The landscape is painted on a sheet cut out and pasted onto another sheet representing the sky.
The lower part of the drawing shows the Nile and its valley. A boat is moored to the bank. On the left stands the great temple. Its façade, carved into the cliff, features four colossal pharaohs representing Ramses II. On the right is the small temple. Its smaller facade is adorned with six colossi representing Ramses II, Nefertari in the guise of Hathor and Ramses II in the form of a god.
