Presentation :

Front view of a grinding wheel. The drawing is in portrait format. It is organized within an ink frame. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins. The scene is visible through the doorway, watched over by a dog. In the foreground, a donkey is driving a millstone, grinding grains of wheat into flour. Two figures, bakers, are shown in the background. One kneads the bread into balls, the other puts them in the oven.
The composition is inspired by a relief from Narbonne.
